Goal: To obtain a position as an Elementary
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be
an Elementary School teacher.
Even as a child, I had a love of teaching. For
example, when I was in the fifth grade, my teacher would
ask me to help the other students increase their scores
on spelling tests. I would spend time working with my
peers and helping them study for our weekly tests.
As a young
student, this was a very rewarding experience and the
feeling of helping someone achieve success made me
realize that being in the education world is where I
After graduating from high school, I began my
journey to become a teacher at Clarion University, where
I had an amazing and challenging experience. My student
teaching experiences at both Keystone Elementary and St.
Patrick Catholic School were positive experiences in
which I impacted student success and helped the students
reach their academic goals.
After graduation, I was excited to begin my career
as a preschool and early childhood teacher. The students
were eager and willing to learn, which made my job
better each day. Although I loved waking up and going to
work with the kids every day, I wanted to continue my
own education in order to better myself for my students.
In the fall of 2010, I enrolled in California
University to pursue my Master of Education and Reading
Specialist Certification. During my 6-week practicum
this summer, I worked one-on-one with a student and was
able to successfully increase her reading level. This
experience has given me the drive not only to continue
helping students work hard and reach their goals, but to
pursue a position as a teacher in my own classroom.
I believe that my hard work and dedication over
the years have helped me improve the learning
experiences of all the students with whom I have worked.
I am whole heartedly excited and dedicated to finding a
school district where I can enrich the students while
also growing as an educator.
